Henry Richards, O.P.A.

Henry Richards"If movie producer Steven Spielberg is the master of distilling the essence of surburbia and putting it on the silver screen, Richards is that genre's master on canvas. Under his brush, the asphalt jungle streets of Southem California look almost romantic", comments art critic Dave Stone after viewing Richard's art at a recent show in Southern California.

Henry Richards, a signature member of the prestigious Oil Painters of America, and holder of the coveted Grumbacher Gold Medal, currently employs his forcelful and accurate knife technique to painting the beautiful California Coast--meadows, landscapes and seascapes. He is contributing strongly to the resurgence of realistic painting in the United States.

Born in Northern California, Richards spent early childhood in Marin County watching the San Francisco Bay Bridge being erected. He later moved to southern California. After completing a stint in the Air Force in Europe during WWII, he returned home where he spent four years at The School of Allied Arts in Glendale. The next 40 years were spent in his own graphic design business.

Accuracy of execution, unique composition, and unusual subject matter, all combine to convey the art of California iImpressionist/realist, Henry Richards.
